The Canadian Dental Specialties Association (CDSA) supports up to two student awards each year. This award recognizes student excellence in research at a Canadian dental specialty training program.
Award Criteria (Eligibility)
The award is given to students undertaking dental specialty training in a recognized Canadian dental specialty, and who will be presenting their research at an international scientific conference. Preference will be given to students who are lead authors of a selected abstract for an oral presentation at an international scientific conference.
The value of the award will be up to a maximum of $500 CAD for each student, according to CDSA travel policy and procedures.
A student may receive the International Research Presentation Award only once during their lifetime.
Selection Criteria
Applications are to be made below. The International Research Presentation Award Sub-Committee will review all applications and make recommendations based on the criteria below. All eligible applications will then be voted on by the Board of Directors, using a grading scale.
The CDSA International Research Presentation Award Sub-Committee will consider applications and make recommendations based on the following criteria:
- Eligibility: If you meet the Award Criteria you will be considered for the CDSA International Research Presentation Award Award.
- Originality: Does the abstract contribute to the state of knowledge in the dental specialty?
- Quality: Does the abstract meet minimum scientific requirements (i.e., clear objectives, appropriate methods, reporting of results, and valid conclusions)?
Application Deadlines
There will be two application submission deadlines. The first is January 31st and the second will be a rolling date based on the IADR meeting.
